/Rotary Extreme RX-8 dual cat back exhaust/

The Rotary Extreme dual cat back full stainless steel exhaust comes with

Our dual cat back is designed to be visually pleasing while maintaining proper ride height. Our exhaust mufflers were designed not to hang past the suspension subframe assembly to ensure that no speed bumps, potholes or anything else would hit the exhaust. This exhaust has more clearance then the factory exhaust and you will not have to worry about the mufflers hitting any steep driveways. Another angle of the dual cat back system. You can see that the 2" pipes have plenty of clearance. There are 2.5" to 2" reducers for the in/out mufflers with V-bands welded in place. After the V-bands the piping is 2.5". This includes the rear V-bands, The mufflers and the diameter of the pipe going to the Titanium Tips. Notice the attention to detail in this hand made fully stainless steel exhaust. The Y-pipe is a very important piece in this exhaust. It incorporates a factory style flange that allows you to use your factory hardware. The pipe splits into two 2" pipes where we have placed slip style connections secured by a flange on each side bolted together. This dual cat-back is what will be needed when we complete our true dual header and mid-pipe. All you will have to do is take out the Y-pipe and our header/mid-pipe will mate directly to the dual cat-back with the slip connections. This photo shows our Rotary Extreme dual cat-back exhaust and our Rotary Extreme spoiler together. More info can be found on the Rotary Extreme spoiler under the aero parts link on the RX8 home page. Titanium exhaust tips were chosen for that unique look once the metal has been exposed to heat. Because the Rotary Engine runs hot by nature, the ti-tips have turned blue after about 1k miles. The tips were positioned not to extend to far out causing them to look like cheap bolt on imitations. Our 4" ti-tips are perfectly centered to prevent ambient heat from burning the exhaust shroud.

Dyno Result:

HP Rating:  We have found that the 232 HP version RX-8 stock HP rating varies from 168 rwhp to 187 rwhp.  Mazda has re-flashed the ECU several times and the HP rating variance has something to do with the ECU program. We have found the first batch of RX-8 produced the most HP on the dyno.  The recent batches have on average of 175 rwhp.  Regardless of the base HP, the exhaust produces almost the same kind of HP gain at 7 to 8 rwhp and 4 to 5 rwtq at high rpm without any loss to low and midrange power. Drivability will not be sacrificed.

Rotary Extreme RX8 dual cat-back exhaust Discontinued SEE NOTE

NOTE 1: The RX8 exhaust system is on hold until Current RX7 product development is finished. TBD.

NOTE 2: We are redesigning the complete dual cat back system from header back. The new system will feature slip joints and a Racing Beat exhaust header flange. We will use a repackable BURNS muffler. The new set-up will also feature the exhaust pointing downward. It will not exit out the back. This will make fitment and installation easier, also it will help point the sound wave down at the pavement. We want this exhaust to be legal at tracks that have decibel restriction. This will be a non-turbo performance exhaust that can be used for s/c applications. If you still want this exhaust for your cat back, we will sell you that aft section and you will have to make your own connection to make it work with your midpipe.
